Readme file for fpweb UNIX demo. Howard Wolowitz, MicroCode Smiths Thank you for trying fpweb for UNIX. This is the FIRST release of this system and, since I do not have a UNIX system, the installation is untried. Please report any problems, questions or missing files to my attention at: howiewz@ix.netcom.com There are 4 directories that are required for fpweb to work. They are: ~/filepro/cgi ~/fpmerge ~/usr/local/etc/httpd/cgi-bin ~/usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs Where the ~ represents your web's home address. You must create the first two directories and move any of your filepro files into ~/filepro. The zip file contains the filepro file named cgi as well as a number of documnts that are loaded into fpmerge, scripts that go into your cgi-bin directory (for compatability many of the scripts end with .bat but they are UNIX scripts) and the indexx.html file which is loaded into your htdocs directory. Below is a partial printout of the set command on my system. PLEASE NOTE: ALL of the PF variables in my set command. The way to set these variables is by modifing the fpsetenv.bat script file which will be found in your cgi-bin directory. The PFDEBUG variable is required only on Berkley UNIX. To install: 1- unzip the files into a temp directory, allow the unzip program to recreate the directory structure. 2- Copy the files from my cgi-bin directory into your server's cgi-bin directory. 3- Copy the filepro/cgi directory into your filepro directory. 4- Copy the files in fpmerge into you fpmerge directory. 5 -Copy the indexx.html file from my htdocs directory into your server's htdocs directory. 6- Don't forget to change ownerships and permissions as required. 7- Here is my set command output: -----------------output of my set command---------------------------------- PFADDWP=OFF PFCWD=/usr/home/photobuf PFDIR=/usr/home/photobuf TERM=ansi PFDSK=/ PATH=/usr/home/photobuf/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/home/photobuf/fp PFPROG=/usr/home/photobuf SHELL=/bin/csh PFPRINTER=nocodes PWD=/usr/home/photobuf PFDEBUG=ON PFDATA=/ --------------end of set command output------------------------------------- Enjoy, Howie Wolowitz howiewz@ix.netcom.com (203) 270-7052 (908) 598-2800
